Walnuts make you Gorgeous _ its Real Truth Try it...

10 Ways Walnuts Make You Gorgeous

Walnuts, when removed from the shell, give the impression of a tiny looking exposed brain. Well, maybe it is a sheer coincidence, but this dry fruit does boost your brain’s health. This nut is packed with many benefits which can help to improve your beauty and health. Do you want to know more about these benefits?

Read on to know more about the exciting benefits of adding walnuts in your diet and beauty regime.

2 - Keeps signs of ageing at bay

Walnuts are rich in antioxidants, which help in skin regeneration and elasticity. These antioxidants boost collagen production and cell repair, thereby toning the skin and keeping the signs of ageing at bay. Whether it is the fine lines, wrinkles or age spots, now you can kiss them goodbye by eating walnuts or by applying walnut oil on your face every day.

3 - Clear and glowing skin

Walnuts have chemical properties, which boost blood circulation, thus bringing oxygen and nutrients to each and every cell. This circulation of blood helps the skin to glow with good health. Just 3-4 walnuts in a day, during snack time, will help your skin regain that healthy glow.

4 - Walnut oil for skin infections

While the dry fruit is good for making the skin beautiful and lustrous, its oil has properties to treat skin infections as well. Walnut oil is known for its anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Athlete’s foot, Psoriasis and Candida like grave skin infections can be cured with the application of walnut oil. In
fact, mixing the oil with other natural anti-fungal ingredients like garlic will also speed up the healing process.

5 - Good skin texture

Apart from fighting signs of ageing and providing you with glowing skin, walnuts boost your skin’s overall health. They are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that protects your skin against sun damage. Along with this, walnuts are a rich source of healthy omega-3 fats, which help in strengthening your skin cells, locking
moisture in your skin, and keeping the toxins out. Also, proteins in this nut boost bone development and help in supporting collagen production in your body.

So, add a few nuts in your diet today!

6 - Beautiful and strong hair

Walnut oil has often been added as an essential ingredient in several hair care products. This dry fruit has the potential of making the hair black and lustrous. It contains biotin, an essential nutrient, which makes your hair strong and voluminous. Since walnuts contain the goodness of protein, they help in strengthening the roots of the hair. Regular usage of walnut oil or consumption of walnuts will make the hair strong and beautiful.

7 - For a tension-free sleep

Yes, walnuts help in improving your mood as well. They contain a lot of vitamin B and omega-3 fatty acids, which help you to balance your mood and fight depression. They also help you to get rid of fatigue, anxiety, and insomnia. So, add walnuts to your diet to get good and tension free sleep, because lack of sleep can also
lead to problems like puffy eyes, wrinkles and weight gain.

8 - Good during pregnancy

Walnuts contain vitamin B complex groups, which aid in adding folates, riboflavin, thiamin and more into the body of a pregnant mother. Walnuts are also packed with magnesium, proteins, healthy fibres and fatty acids that are good for a pregnant mother and her baby. Other than adding to the good health of the mother and the baby, applying walnut oil will make the mother’s skin glow with good health.

9 - Help in weight loss

Here comes the best of all. Other than boosting your skin’s texture and your immunity, walnuts also aid in your weight loss. Due to high content of good fats, dietary fibres and proteins, they helps in lowering blood cholesterol levels. This in turn leads to reduction in fat accumulation in the body. Other than this, a research conducted by University of Navarra, Spain, found that people who consumed nuts regularly had 31 per cent higher chances of losing weight than those who did not eat any nuts. But, it is always best to take them in moderation, and avoid the salted packaged varieties.

10 - Boosts your brain's health

This is perfect food for availing the combination of beauty with brains. Its striking resemblance to the structure of brain is not a mere coincidence; it does help in development of brain. Eating a handful daily will serve the purpose of boosting the brain power, memory and the entire nervous system. Omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts help in circulation of oxygen and nutrient rich blood in your body, thus aiding your brain to function properly.

11 - Immunity booster

Walnuts are a rich source of good fats, vitamins, proteins and other nutrients. Being packed with so much goodness, definitely makes it one of the best dry fruits that boost your overall health. From lowering risks of heart diseases and certain types of cancer to boosting digestion and metabolism, this nut does it all.
Walnuts also help your body to get rid of all skin impurities quite easily and efficiently. A walnut can also helps in tackling your vision related problems.

So, if you want to be a beauty with brains then include a few walnuts in your daily diet today!

Managing Your Time Effectively

Time is very precious for all of us. If once the time flees it never comes back. So Spending time, like spending money, is a very personal matter. Unlike money, however, you can't get a "time raise" or "save some hours" for a busy day. Successful people, must budget time according to their priorities to ensure that they spend it effectively. To be able to perform effectively at work, time management skills are a must for everybody.

Time management is important for those who wish to have a balanced professional and personal life. Have you ever taken a look around at your workplace? If you were an observant person, you would have probably noticed how certain people complete their task with great ease before the stipulated time while some struggle laboriously with the same. You may have thought it probably has to do with the particular abilities of a person. Yes, it does hint at a person’s capability but it does not mean others do not have skills. The thing missing out in case of others who fail to perform well is the knowledge about time management skills.

Having the knowledge of time management skills is all about being more productive at work while keeping stress at bay. Slogging for long hours at work does not always mean he/she is really a hardworking employee. An employer would then need to check if the particular person is unable to manage his/her time well enough to complete the taskwithin the given hours. If you are often caught in this trap of being unable to manage your tasks well no matter how hard you try, read all about some tips on techniques about time management skills.

Identify Your Goals and Priorities:
The first step in learning to manage your time—controlling your life—is to identify what your goals and priorities are. Think about the set tasks for the day. You would then need to know how much time should be allotted to a particular task. Focus your energy on the important tasks that are completely significant to you. Is there a particular time of the day when you feel most productive? If your thinking powers are particularly sharp in the morning hours, try to finish your important tasks during that period. You can use the rest of time to finish the seemingly smaller tasks later.

Maintain a planner/diary:
Having a diary with all your activities for the day may seem a little cumbersome to you but you must maintain a diary to know the way you plan your day. Make a to-do list to organize things. Mark all the important tasks for the day. Include some time for your personal self as well.

Learn to say no!
Well, when you are delegating your tasks and if you really can’t fit things in the schedule, learn to say no when required. There is a major difference between realistic goals and the completely impractical ones. Find out another alternative in that case. Every problem has its solution and you are not a one-man show, so learn to refuse when required.

Always keep time for yourself:
To be energized for work would require you to plan for some things, which you really enjoy apart from the work schedule. Going for a dance class or exercising at the gym would give you a chance to feel geared up about your work as well. Explore a new place at the weekend. Plan some time for yourself in between meetings; this is absolutely necessary if you are aiming to finish all the tasks on time!

Be flexible but remain in control:
Expect interruptions, as they are bound to occur. If you are doing things in priority order—not leaving big things to the last—you and your schedule will easily survive.

It is therefore very necessary for one to be aware of time management skills and feel more organized at work. These tips and techniques are bound to help you manage your work in the most effective manner!

Health - Naturual Remedies - Seasonal Allergies - Be Natural

With spring starting, allergy sufferers are dreading the onset of allergy season. Perhaps you are like so many patients for whom the typical allergy medications don’t work that well.

For those of you who think you may have run out of options, there are powerful natural alternatives that can help prepare your body in advance to prevent allergy symptoms and treat them if you already are suffering.

Seven natural remedies for seasonal allergies

    1. Begin with a non-allergenic diet: Although allergens are external, it is actually our body’s response to them that is the cause of the allergy -- it is an allergic reaction. If your body is already inundated with food allergy triggers, your immune system will be hyper-wired to react to external allergens. Eliminate wheat, dairy, and excess sugar, the most common allergens.

    2. Try a spoonful of honey: Choose local honey produced by bees that live in your area. The theory is that consuming honey may be much like immunotherapy, in the same way that allergists introduce tiny doses of an allergen to reduce sensitivity. As bees collect nectar from flowers, they inadvertently pick up pollen grains, which get into the honey, creating homeopathic immunotherapy.

Using honey as a preventive works best with a daily dose several weeks or months before allergy season. For example, New York City recently approved beekeeping, and one brand, called Hi-Rise Hive is sold at local health food stores.

    3. Take vitamin C and quercetin: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and also a mast cell “stabilizer.” Mast cells are tiny cells that line the mucous membranes, which when exposed to an allergen, release histamine.

Histamine in the bloodstream is the cause of symptoms such as, eye irritation, sneezing, and a runny nose. Vitamin C makes mast cells less reactive, thus reducing allergy symptom, and quercetin is a powerful flavonoid that enhances the effects of vitamin C.

Take 1500mg of vitamin C with 500mg quercetin at the first signs of allergies and repeat every four to six hours as needed. This crafty combination can put a sneezing attack to rest within 20 to 30 minutes. Another great product, Natural D-Hist also contains singing nettle leaf, bromelein (an enzyme), and N-acetyl cysteine (thins mucous).

    4. Drink stinging nettle leaf tea: If you have come in contact with this perennial, you probably remember the sting. But it's safe and healthy in drink form. Steep the tea for 10 to 15 minutes to obtain the full benefits of the medicinal oils.

    5. Sooth your nose with a neti pot: Seasonal allergies are usually due to pollen from flowering plants, grasses, and trees that become stuck in the nasal passages. Pollen triggers the inflammatory process that we call allergies. One way to reduce symptoms is to wash the allergens out with salt-water.

Neti pots have been used since ancient India to clear nasal passages. Using a neti pot or a saline nasal rinse, such as Sinucleanse, is a great way to help reduce allergy symptoms.

    6. Inhale steam with essential oils: Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and then turn off the heat. Place 4 drops eucalyptus oil, 1 to 2 drops tea tree oil, and 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Drape a large towel over your head and inhale deeply for 5 to 10 minutes.

    7. Give acupuncture a shot: Acupuncture can be effective, and it is thought that acupuncture may temper an overactive immune system. Applied locally, it can help reduce nasal and sinus inflammation that is the cause of much of the discomfort from allergies

The author demonstrates great skill in presenting the treatment methods and remedial measures of ancient India for their healing benefits to the modern world. Ayurvedic Astrology: Self-Healing through the Stars is destined to become a classic text in the field.
Dennis M. Harness, Ph.D. President, American College of Medic Astrology

This is probably the first book available that jointly examines both Ayurveda and Vedic astrology in detail for the modern reader. Even in the traditional literature on these subjects, there are few works that cross reference both so directly and completely. It is likely to be the standard work in the field for serious students for years to come.

Strategy video games are good for the brain, study suggests

OLDER people might want to take an interest in their grandchildren's video games, if early research on the brain benefits of gaming is correct.

In a study of 40 adults in their 60s and 70s, researchers found that those who learned to play a strategy-heavy video game improved their scores on a number of tests of cognitive function.

Men and women who trained in the game for about a month showed gains in tests of memory, reasoning and the ability to "multi-task".

The findings suggest that video games that keep players "on their toes" might help older adults keep their brains sharp, the researchers report in the journal Psychology And Aging.

This is the first published study to suggest as much, so it's important not to overstate the findings, said senior researcher Dr Arthur F. Kramer, a professor of psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

However he said the results were "very promising", as they suggested that strategy-based video games could enhance reasoning, memory and other cognitive abilities that often decline with age.

Your Say

25 years ago I bought my first strategy game - an Avalon Hill military classic. Along came the Amiga computer and the computer games such as SSI military games, AD&D gold box an...

The study included 40 older adults who were randomly assigned to either the video game group or a comparison group that received no training in the game.

Over 1 month, the gamer group spent about 23 hours training in "Rise of Nations", an off-the-shelf video game where players seek world domination.

Ruling the world, the game group learned, requires a complex set of tasks, including military strategy, building cities, managing economies and feeding people.

Study participants who trained in the game ended up improving their scores in several areas of a battery of cognitive tests, Dr Kramer and his colleagues found.

More research was needed to confirm and extend the findings, Dr Kramer said.

It was not clear, he noted, if other strategic games would have the same benefits, or if the effects seen in this study would persist over time.

The findings are in line with research suggesting that older adults can improve their cognitive health by staying both physically active and mentally active through activities such as reading, writing or other hobbies.

"Playing video games with their grandkids would also be a great idea," Dr Kramer said.

"Because we know that social interactions – along with physical exercise and intellectual challenge – also enhance the cognitive abilities of older adults."

Cancer Update-An important article Johns Hopkins University

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins University

This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Please circulate to all you know; Cancer update

Johns Hopkins - Cancer News from Johns Hopkins

No plastic containers in micro
No water bottles in freezer.
No plastic wrap in microwave...

A dioxin ! chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.. .

This especially applies to foods that contain fat.
He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body...
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heat! ing food... You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else.

Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.
He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons...

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.
Cover food with a paper towel instead.
