Cheat Sheets: Learn Programming Languages the Easy Way

cheatsheets.jpg

Learning a new programming language isn't easy. Even those who already know the basic elements common to all programming languages will likely to stumble through the awkward phase of trying to remember the new language's specific syntax.

At some point the process of learning a language boils down to rote memorization, which is where cheat sheets come in handy. A language cheat sheet typically lists all the commands and options for the language you’re trying to learn and puts it in one neat little package. It won’t help you with the “philosophy” of the language, but it can help get you to the point where you’re comfortable enough to worry about the Python or Perl “way” of doing things.

Blogger Scott Klarr has assembled an impressive collection of such cheat sheets, covering just about every language you’re likely to need. From C++ to Photoshop shortcuts, there’s something in this list for everyone.

Even if you’re a seasoned pro at the language of your choice, cheat sheets still come in handy as a quick reference guide, so head on over and grab what you need. Some sheets are image or PDF files, others are just links to webpages with lists of tips. Take a screenshot, set it as your desktop background and start learning.
