Health - Naturual Remedies - Seasonal Allergies - Be Natural

With spring starting, allergy sufferers are dreading the onset of allergy season. Perhaps you are like so many patients for whom the typical allergy medications don’t work that well.

For those of you who think you may have run out of options, there are powerful natural alternatives that can help prepare your body in advance to prevent allergy symptoms and treat them if you already are suffering.

Seven natural remedies for seasonal allergies

    1. Begin with a non-allergenic diet: Although allergens are external, it is actually our body’s response to them that is the cause of the allergy -- it is an allergic reaction. If your body is already inundated with food allergy triggers, your immune system will be hyper-wired to react to external allergens. Eliminate wheat, dairy, and excess sugar, the most common allergens.

    2. Try a spoonful of honey: Choose local honey produced by bees that live in your area. The theory is that consuming honey may be much like immunotherapy, in the same way that allergists introduce tiny doses of an allergen to reduce sensitivity. As bees collect nectar from flowers, they inadvertently pick up pollen grains, which get into the honey, creating homeopathic immunotherapy.

Using honey as a preventive works best with a daily dose several weeks or months before allergy season. For example, New York City recently approved beekeeping, and one brand, called Hi-Rise Hive is sold at local health food stores.

    3. Take vitamin C and quercetin: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and also a mast cell “stabilizer.” Mast cells are tiny cells that line the mucous membranes, which when exposed to an allergen, release histamine.

Histamine in the bloodstream is the cause of symptoms such as, eye irritation, sneezing, and a runny nose. Vitamin C makes mast cells less reactive, thus reducing allergy symptom, and quercetin is a powerful flavonoid that enhances the effects of vitamin C.

Take 1500mg of vitamin C with 500mg quercetin at the first signs of allergies and repeat every four to six hours as needed. This crafty combination can put a sneezing attack to rest within 20 to 30 minutes. Another great product, Natural D-Hist also contains singing nettle leaf, bromelein (an enzyme), and N-acetyl cysteine (thins mucous).

    4. Drink stinging nettle leaf tea: If you have come in contact with this perennial, you probably remember the sting. But it's safe and healthy in drink form. Steep the tea for 10 to 15 minutes to obtain the full benefits of the medicinal oils.

    5. Sooth your nose with a neti pot: Seasonal allergies are usually due to pollen from flowering plants, grasses, and trees that become stuck in the nasal passages. Pollen triggers the inflammatory process that we call allergies. One way to reduce symptoms is to wash the allergens out with salt-water.

Neti pots have been used since ancient India to clear nasal passages. Using a neti pot or a saline nasal rinse, such as Sinucleanse, is a great way to help reduce allergy symptoms.

    6. Inhale steam with essential oils: Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and then turn off the heat. Place 4 drops eucalyptus oil, 1 to 2 drops tea tree oil, and 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Drape a large towel over your head and inhale deeply for 5 to 10 minutes.

    7. Give acupuncture a shot: Acupuncture can be effective, and it is thought that acupuncture may temper an overactive immune system. Applied locally, it can help reduce nasal and sinus inflammation that is the cause of much of the discomfort from allergies

This view was taken by Lala Deen Dayal (1844-1905) in the 1880s. Dayal took up photography in the 1870s and in 1884 became official photographer to the Nizam of Hyderabad, with studios in Secunderabad and Indore. Hyderabad was founded beside the River Musi in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah (r.1580-1612) as an alternative to his capital at Golconda. Later, Hyderabad became the capital of the Nizams of Hyderabad, who ruled over one of the largest states in India from 1724 to 1948. The dynasty was founded by Nizam al-Mulk, entitled Asaf Jah (d. 1748) who had arrived in the Deccan as the Mughal governor before declaring his independence. During their time in power the Nizams constructed many buildings of architectural importance.

The town was laid out in a grid pattern with two main roads running east to west and north to south; the Char Minar, or Four Towers, sits at the intersection of these two roads. This ceremonial strucuture was built in 1591 to mark the centre of the city. It comprises four imposing arched portals with arcaded storeys and geometric screens above. They contain spiral staircases opening onto triple tiers of balconies. This image is described by Ricalton in 'India Through the Stereoscope' (1907), "Two of the Nizam's state elephants have intruded athwart the street and obstructed our view...These two have just come out from the great archway on the left; they are being brought out in readiness to convey some traveler to Golconda." This is one of a series of 100 photographs, designed to be viewed through a special binocular viewer, producing a 3D effect, which were sold together with a book of descriptions and a map. Stereoscopic cameras, those with two lenses and the ability to take two photographs at the same time, were introduced in the mid 19th century.

Secunderabad

Secunderabad, twin city of Hyderabad, was founded after an alliance between Hyderabad’s Nizam Sikander Jah and the British East India Company in 1798. Following the treaty, secured by Major James Achilles Kirkpatrick, an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was made into a cantonment. Soon after the treaty was signed 5,000 British troops arrived and camped in the new cantonment of Secunderabad, which was laid out in 1806 and named after the Nizam. Initially it encompassed an area of four square miles and had a population of 5,000 troops plus several thousand civilians. However, 60 years later it had increased to 17 square miles and had a population, including the armed forces, of 50,000.

In 1724 Asaf Jah declared independence and established the dynasty of Nizams who ruled until 1948. There were no modern industries in Hyderabad before 1874 but a few years later railway workshops were established nearby and four factories sprang up south and east of the Hussain Sagar lake. These industrial units became the centre of new settlements. This is a view of the mills and the nearby canal.

Photograph showing the Scotch Kirk and cemetery, with the cantonment parade ground and race course beyond, at Secunderabad (now in Andhra Pradesh) taken by Lala Deen Dayal, c. 1890.
Secunderabad is situated in Andhra Pradesh next to Hyderabad, its older twin city (founded c. 1590). The Nizam of Hyderabad, Sikander Jah, entered into a subsidiary alliance with the British East India Company in 1798, involving military and political cooperation. Under the alliance an area north of Hussain Sagar lake was to be made a cantonment. Soon after the alliance was signed 5,000 British troops arrived and camped north of Hyderabad; the cantonment was laid out in 1806 and named after the Nizam, and thus was Secunderabad founded. Initially it encompassed an area of four square miles and had a population of 5,000 troops plus several thousand civilians, however 60 years later it had increased to 17 square miles and the population, including the armed forces was 50,000. The town continued to develop as its military functions and business opportunities drew large numbers of people from the surrounding rural areas.

View of the Husain Sagar lake to the north of Hyderabad, photographed by Deen Dayal in the 1880s. This is from the Curzon Collection: 'Views of HH the Nizam's Dominions, Hyderabad, Deccan, 1892'. Husain Sagar is an artificial lake which divides the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The lake was created in the 16th century by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah (r.1550-80) and named after Husain Shah Wali, who had helped the sultan recover from illness. It was created by enlarging an existing small stone dam across the valley. The lake supplied the townspeople with water as well as irrigating the surrounding land.

Reviews
"Barron's 600 Essential Words for the TOEIC" is the book I recommend to all my students who have studied strategies and methods (and score around 600-700) but who don't have enough English vocabulary to understand everything they heard on the TOEIC. Here's why I love this book:

1. The words are a combination of verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs that students will find useful both for the TOEIC and in real life.

2. The words are divided by topic (ex: medical, hospitality, etc.), so that students can study words that often appear in the same text.

3. Each of the 50 different units has various types of practice exercises & quizzes (about 40-50 fill-in-the-blank and multiple-choice questions per unit), so that you get to hear and read the TOEIC Words in different kinds of texts and talks.

4. Each unit has a section that gives other "forms" or "parts of speech" of the 12 words (ex: except, exception, exceptional) so that you can see how the meaning of the word changes depending on whether it is a verb, noun, adjective or adverb.

5. The Questions in the book are at about the same level of difficulty as the real TOEIC test.

6. After every 4 or 5 Units there is a Unit Review quiz, so that you can test yourself on words you studied previously.

Overall, this is one of the best TOEIC test preparations books around. While it doesn't have any grammar practice or complete TOEIC Tests (see my website for a list of my recommended TOEIC Test practice books), it will build your vocabulary skills up so that you will not feel lost in any Reading Text, Conversation or Talk.

Sony Ericsson The Mix Walkman & Txt Pro Feature Phones

Sony Ericsson Announces The Mix Walkman And Txt Pro Feature Phones
Today, Sony Ericsson has announced two new feature phones, the Walkman branded Mix and the txt pro.

The Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman phone looks similar to the Xperia Mini, but has the Walkman theme all over it. The phone will sport a 3-inch touch screen with WQVGA resolution. One unique feature of the Mix is that it will sport a ‘Zappin’ button. When a user presses the button, the phone will automatically preview the chorus of the next song.

The txt pro looks similar to the Xperia Pro and packs a four-row slide-out QWERTY keyboard along with a 3-inch WQVGA touch screen. The handset will have a ‘Friends’ application, which will provide users with the updates of all their friends from Facebook and Twitter.

Both the phones pack a 3.2MP camera at the back, and also include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB cards. Sadly, both the phones lack support for 3G. The handsets will also have a four corner UI, similar to the ones found in the Xpera Mini range of handsets.

The handsets are expected to hit the retail stores sometime in Q3 of 2011, at an unknown price.

Solar flare? Yes, but tonight's northern lights have a more spectacular cause

Though widely described as a 'solar flare,' the star of Tuesday's solar storm was a much rarer – and much larger – coronal mass ejection, which is distorting Earth's magnetic field and will produce the northern lights (and southern lights) tonight.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured this image of the sun belching out massive quantities of energy and matter on Tuesday, June 7. Though some confuse this with a solar flare, this coronal mass ejection was much larger – and much, much more massive – than any solar flare. Because of this solar outburst, half the planet will be able to see the northern or southern lights on Wednesday night (weather permitting).

Tsunami Slams Japanese Coast After Quake

Tsunami Photos of Japan

Attention Everybody:  By this time I think most have heard about the devastating tsunami and earthquake that has centered  just off the coast of Japan. And now, most of the Pacific is on watch.

Here are some of the best projected models I've found, thanks to NOAA weather service. Check out the angles... notice that Hawaii is blocking part of central California, and Chile might be in for the worst. I hope not. I hope the American government is doing what they can for Japan.

Protection Against Children Sexual Offences Bill 2011 Approved

Image Source from: Sakshi Telugu Newspaper - on 4th March 2011

Below Text News Source from: Zeenews

New Delhi: CABINET APPROVED THE " Protection Against Children Sexual Offenses Bill 2011"

A path breaking Bill dealing exclusively with sexual offenses against children was passed by the Union Cabinet today providing for a 10 year jail term.

which may even extend to life imprisonment.

The Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses Bill, 2011, also legalized consensual sex with a person aged between 16-18 years.

The new law will cover all new aspects of sexual offences against children not covered elsewhere.

The proposed legislation aims at protecting children against offenses of sexual assault, sexual harassment, pornography and provide for establishment of special courts for trial of such offences.

The bill provides for treating sexual assault as "aggravated offence" when it is committed by a person in position of trust or authority over a child including a member of the security forces, police officer, public servant, management or staff of a children's home, hospital or educational institution.

As per the draft bill, aggravated penetrative sexual assault against a child victim may lead to rigorous imprisonment for not less than 10 years. The bill has provision to extend the penalty to imprisonment for life, including fine.

It will be treated as an aggravated offence where the child victim is below 12 years or has mental or physical disability or the sexual offence causes grievous hurt or injury to the child with long term adverse effect on the child's mind and body.

The punishment for such an offence would be imprisonment of upto seven years with fine.

The punishment for penetrative sexual assault has been proposed to be at least five years in jail and a minimum fine of Rs 50,000.

Sexual assault also includes fondling the child in an inappropriate way which will invite a penalty of minimum three years in jail.

Section seven of the bill provides for "no punishment" if the consent for sexual act has been obtained with a person aged between 16 to 18 years.

There is a special provision in the bill preventing abuse of children for pornographic purpose or possessing pornographic material involving children.

There will be an obligation on the media, studio and photographic facilities not to report such cases and failure to do so will attract punishment.

Plus, he explains many concepts that fill in the gaps if you don''t have experience with some of the prerequisite information.

What You'll Learn:

Video 1: IP Telephony: Cisco Certification and Getting the Most from this Series|23:08

With every new program, there is typically an included "Read Me First" text file. In the same sense, consider this nugget the "Watch Me First" of the series. This nugget presents the strategies you can use for getting the most from the series, changes to the Cisco certification program, and the ideal lab equipment to use for the series.

Video 2: Foundations: Troubleshooting Cisco Voice|35:55

Moving into a realm of troubleshooting requires a big picture perspective and plan. This nugget discusses the broad areas of troubleshooting on the voice network and the systematic process used to work through the issues you may encounter.

Video 3: Foundations: Gathering Troubleshooting Information|35:46

Cisco includes many troubleshooting tools with the CallManager platform. In this nugget, Jeremy walks through many of the tools you have at your disposal for troubleshooting

Video 4: Foundations: Gathering Troubleshooting Information, Part 2|37:29

The troubleshooting tool discussion continues as you move from the 10,000 foot overview to specific focus on the Real Time Monitoring Tool (RTMT), CallManager trace files, and the Cisco Voice Log Translator (VLT).

Video 5: CCM Troubleshooting: Endpoint registration|35:54

One of the most common areas of troubleshooting in a VoIP network are the IP Telephony endpoints. Phones can become unresponsive or endlessly boot cycle. This video discusses the Cisco IP Phone boot process and expores the troubleshooting mindset necessary to solve challenges with these devices.

Video 6: CCM Troubleshooting: Server operation|23:51

If the CallManager servers are not stable, nothing is stable! In this nugget, Jeremy discusses the process to ensure the CallManager servers stay online and methods to continually monitor their performance.

Video 7: CCM Troubleshooting: Security Issues|30:41

VoIP security can be quite complex. With anything complex, a variety of troubleshooting can emerge. This nugget discusses the concepts and process behind VoIP security.

Video 8: CCM Troubleshooting: Security Issues, Part 2|23:15

The VoIP security realm continues as we build on the foundations laid in the previous nugget by discussing specific methods used to troubleshoot VoIP security issues.

Video 9: CCM Troubleshooting: Database Replication|33:56

The Cisco CallManager database is at the core of the entire VoIP network. Whether you are using Microsoft SQL Server 7.0/2000 (CallManager versions 3 and 4) or IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS - CallManager versions 5, 6, and 7), a failing database replication can cause an outage for thousands of phones. This nugget is dedicated to diagnosing and repairing database replication issues in your CallManager cluster.

Video 10: CCM Troubleshooting: LDAP Replication|34:16

Many people are suprised when they find out Cisco CallManager supports a user database. Why would you need a user database for IP Phones? Watch this nugget to find out! In this nugget, Jeremy discusses integration options and troubleshooting steps for a local and/or LDAP user database.

Video 11: CCM Troubleshooting: Gateway Communication|40:16

Our attention now turns from CallManager to gateway troubleshooting. More specifically: MGCP gateway troubleshooting. Cisco CallManager uses MGCP to gain complete control of gateways configured for MGCP. This centralizes your configuration and eases the administrative burden from your end. In this nugget, Jeremy goes WAY beyond basic MGCP configurations and pulls out Wireshark to analyze and troubleshoot CallManager to gateway communication using MGCP.

Video 12: CCM Troubleshooting: Call Failures|42:11

Outside of IP Phone registration issues, call routing failures are the most common troubleshooting issue you will encounter in the VoIP network. This nugget focuses around troubleshooting call routing failures in a single-site, single-cluster environment. Topics focus around CCM digit analysis, partitions and calling search spaces, translation patterns, and more.

Video 13: CCM Troubleshooting: Call Failures, Part 2|33:25

The call failure troubleshooting discussion moves to calls outside your cluster. In this nugget, Jeremy focuses on MGCP and H.323 gateway concepts and troubleshooting steps.

Video 14: CCM Troubleshooting: Call Failures, Part 3|43:27

In this final call troubleshooting nugget, you will focus on CallManager-specific troubleshooting areas. These include troubleshooting caller-id, secondary dial-tone, one-way audio, dead air, and ringback.

Video 15: CCM Troubleshooting: Call Routing|24:32

Just like data packets, correct routing of voice calls is essential. This nugget highlights major troubleshooting areas for CCM call routing including TEHO issues, call disconnects, and proper data to PSTN network fallback.

Video 16: CCM Troubleshooting: Gatekeeper Communication|37:28

H.323 Gatekeepers have the ability to simplify the network configuration and management for your VoIP environment. In this nugget, Jeremy discusses the concepts behind H.323 Gatekeepers, Gatekeeper configurations, and the troubleshooting process.

Video 17: Network Troubleshooting: Voice Quality Issues|48:58

Quality of Service (QoS) issues can quickly destroy a VoIP network. This nugget is dedicated to looking through key QoS requirements and configurations, along with QoS troubleshooting methods.

Video 18: Cisco Unity: Integration Issues|47:39

The Cisco Unity voicemail system is really the "black sheep" of the CCVP certification track since Cisco did not include any exams tailored to the Unity system. In this nugget, Jeremy goes beyond basic Unity troubleshooting to explore foundation Unity - CallManager integration, then walks through common Unity troubleshooting topics: Message Waiting Indicators (MWIs), Call Transfer issues, and Unity Subscriber settings.

Video 19: Resources: CTI and Media Resource Troubleshooting|33:51

New troubleshooting areas unfold as you integrate your CallManager system with outside applications and resources using Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) and media resource management. This nugget explores the functions of CTI and media resources in a CallManager cluster, then walks through troubleshooting steps.
